The crash occurred at around 8.30 pm on March 6 in Ve Giang Commune, when the truck was crossing a local road intersecting the railway line. The SE8 train travelling from south to north struck the vehicle, causing severe damage.
Nguyen Binh, a passenger on the train, said the impact was strong and forced the train to make an emergency stop. The truck was hit in the middle and torn apart, with its front and rear sections thrown to opposite sides of the track.
The truck driver was injured and taken to hospital, while the locomotive was badly damaged and unable to continue its journey.
Doan Viet Van, chairman of Ve Giang Commune, confirmed the incident and said police are investigating the cause of the crash. He added that although the accident was serious, the driver sustained only minor injuries.
