As many as 408 traffic accidents happened between the Tet holiday from February 6-14th, leaving 300 dead and 380 injured, according to the National Committee on Traffic Safety.
The reported figures represent a remarkable decline against those of the same period last year. The number of accidents fell 23.8%; meanwhile deaths and injuries decreased 5.4% and 25.3% respectively.

In addition to the major of road deaths, five reported railway accidents resulted in the deaths of three people and left four more injured.
Most of the accident involved motorbikes and were attributed to careless driving, speeding, drunk driving, and overloading.
During Tet, traffic police dealt with a total of 27,672 violations, collecting fines of more than VND7.7 billion (USD366,600).
Nearly 5,000 people were hospitalised due to fights during the holiday period, including 10 fatalities.
