Two people died and 22 others were seriously injured when a tornado swept through Quang Binh Province today, October 16.

The chairman of Quang Trach District People's Committee Dau Minh Ngoc confirmed the number of casualties and provided more detailed information.
The tornado swept through Quang Son Commune in Quang Trach District at around 1am, accompanied by heavy rains, destroying around 40% of the homes in the commune and leaving many others badly damaged.
After the event authorities in Quang Trach District deployed the police and rescue teams. Two bodies have been positively identified as two 50-year-old men, Mai Phu and Phan Son, while those injured people have been transferred to Quang Trach General Hospital and Vietnam-Cuba Hospital in Dong Hoi City. Many people are reported to be in critical condition.

Even though the Nari Storm did not pass directly through Quang Binh Province, its impacts have caused heavy rain and strong winds beginning on October 15. Not only did trees fall, the flooding also caused travel problems and isolated many areas.
According to Ngoc, heavy rains continue in Quang Trach District. As a result, Ha Son Village is now isolated.
The district authorities are sending out more rescue teams to assess the damage and provide help to isolated areas, evacuating those in need.
