The film’s story focuses on an engagement ceremony in which the groom’s mother offers a box of tiger bone glue as a gift for the bride’s family.
However, the bride’s parents turn the gift down which disappoints the groom’s mother, ending the proposed wedding.
The film is scheduled to be screened on Vietnam Television and local stations nationwide. People can also see the film on ENV’s Youtube channel.
Many Vietnamese people still believe that tiger bone glue is a kind of magical medicine which can help to support the treatment of lots of diseases and health improvement. This is some of the reason for the increased number of tigers that have been hunted.
Tigers are at high risk of extinction, particularly in Vietnam and neighbouring countries. Scientists estimated that less than five tigers now live in Vietnam.
In 2018, ENV reported 632 violations related to tiger trading, advertisement and storage.
