Three more Covid-19 patients are discharged from the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases on July 20.

According to the hospital, the three male patients returned to Vietnam from Bangladesh on Flight VJ569 and landed at Van Don Airport in Quang Ninh Province on July 3. They were then quarantined at the quarantine centres at the military bases in Thanh Hoa Province.

Tran Van Giang, deputy head of the Department of Viral and Parasitic Diseases, said all three patients showed mild symptoms. They had tested negative for the virus twice and their pneumonia had gone and met all requirements to declare that they have completely recovered from the viruses.

"The patients will still be quarantined for 14 more days and take final tests to see if they are re-infected or not," Giang said.

All other remaining 18 Covid-19 patients at the hospital are being treated at the Department of Viral and Parasitic Diseases. 14 of them have been tested negative once for SARS-CoV-2. With three new recovered patients, Vietnam has had 360 recovered patients out of 383 cases. The country hasn't recorded any community transmission case from April 16 to July 20.

The most recent case, Patient 383, is a 40-year-old man from Myanmar. He was quarantined immediately after entering Vietnam.

On August 3, Vietnam will repatriate 219 Vietnamese nationals from Equatorial Guinea, including 116 who have been tested positive for SARS-CoV-2. Two doctors and two nurses of the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases will accompany the flight.

"Our department has prepared all human resources and equipment to receive the patients. We have been still in the outbreak response mode," Giang said.

The patients will be transferred to several departments to ensure social distancing between the patients and doctors.
