Three metal tanks drift onto Quang Ngai beach

Three unclaimed metal tanks suspected of containing chemicals have been found on a beach in the central province of Quang Ngai.

On November 25, the Quang Ngai Border Guard Command found the three unclaimed specialised metal tanks at a beach in Le Thuy Village in Binh Son District. The cylindrical white tanks, measuring six by 2.5 metres, were brought ashore by waves.

The chairman of Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee, Nguyen Hoang Giang, has directed the Department of Industry and Trade to work with other agencies to handle the tanks promptly. He emphasised the need to ensure the safety of the Dung Quat Refinery during the work.

People have been advised to avoid where the drifting objects were found for safety reasons. Local authorities have been urged to swiftly identify their owner and origin.

The tanks resemble liquefied gas storage devices, with a pump valve, discharge pipe, pressure gauge, and protective steel frame.

Since the start of this year, people and authorities in Binh Hai and Binh Tri communes in Binh Son District have continuously detected drugs drifting ashore along the coastline.
