Thousands of young men in Vietnam set off for the military service on Wednesday morning.

In Hanoi, nearly 4,000 young men from 30 districts and towns started to join the military and public security units.

In Binh Dinh Province, 2,620 young men also started to join the military and public security units on February 20.
1,440 young men in Thua Thien - Hue Province began military services on the same day.

Captain Nguyen Hong Son, head of the Thua Thien-Hue Provincial Military Steering Office, said that the quality of new conscripts was good.
Three-quarters of new conscripts in Thua Thien-Hue are aged between 18-21 and 78 have graduated from universities or vocational colleges.
