The ceremony took place at the Nam National Martyrs’ Cemetery in Tu My Commune, where local authorities, military representatives and Lao delegates gathered to pay tribute to the fallen soldiers.

According to Ha Tinh officials, during the wars fought against the common enemies of Vietnam and Laos, tens of thousands of Vietnamese soldiers, officials and youth volunteers travelled to Laos to support the Lao army and people.
Many Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts lost their lives on Lao soil, contributing significantly to the revolutionary victories of both countries.

Since 1999, with support from the Lao Party, government and people, Ha Tinh’s martyrs’ remains recovery team has travelled through forests and remote mountainous areas to search for and repatriate the remains of Vietnamese soldiers who died in Laos.
Authorities said the team had recovered 835 sets of remains since 1999, including the nine soldiers repatriated during the 2025-2026 dry season operation.

Tran Cam Tu, standing member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat, offered flowers and incense at the memorial and burial ceremony for the martyrs.

A Lao delegation also attended the ceremony and offered incense in memory of the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts.

Tran Cam Tu, standing member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat, and Nguyen Duy Lam, secretary of the Ha Tinh Provincial Party Committee, joined the procession carrying the soldiers’ remains to the burial site.

Nam National Martyrs’ Cemetery is the final resting place of 1,230 martyrs, including hundreds of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who carried out international missions in Laos and Cambodia.
