The new system, introduced by Thailand’s Immigration Bureau, aims to streamline entry procedures, reduce wait times, and replace the traditional paper-based forms. Travellers will be required to provide personal details, travel itinerary, accommodation information, and health status via the online platform.
Upon submission, visitors will receive a QR code or downloadable confirmation file, which must be presented at immigration checkpoints upon arrival.
Previously, Thailand used the TM6 paper form, which was typically distributed by flight attendants before landing or available at immigration counters. The form required travellers to declare personal details, trip purpose, and residence information.
This digital transformation is expected to enhance efficiency and improve the overall travel experience.
In 2024, Thailand welcomed over 35.5 million international visitors, a 26.67 percent increase compared to 2023, thanks to expanded visa exemptions and relaxed entry regulations. The country aims to attract 40 million foreign tourists this year.
