The fire was first detected on the evening of May 24 in a forested area in Tan Dinh Village, Ninh Chau Commune. Although firefighters initially brought the blaze under control, it reignited on the morning of May 25 and spread rapidly.
Hot weather, strong southwesterly winds and thick layers of dry vegetation caused the flames to intensify quickly, creating major difficulties for firefighting teams.
Hundreds of personnel were deployed to the scene, using water sprays while clearing vegetation and creating firebreaks to stop the fire spreading further.

By the evening of May 25, authorities said the blaze had been largely contained. Firefighters and emergency crews remained at the site with equipment on standby in case the fire flared up again.
The forest management unit is currently assessing the damage, while authorities continue investigating the cause of the fire.
