Police in Hanoi arrested a taxi driver for robbing two Russian tourists on Thursday.

According to police at Hang Bong Ward in Hoan Kiem District, they received the two tourists who were crying when reporting about their mobile phones being stolen by a local taxi driver early Thursday morning.
The two tourists said that they called a taxi at around 3 am on Hang Bong Street. When the taxi arrived, the two young women got in and asked the driver to help them charge their mobile phones. After running for a short distance, the two tourists got out and asked the driver to wait while they went to exchange some USD dollars for Vietnam Dong to pay. However, the taxi driver suddenly drove away with their two mobile phones. The women cried for help and were guided by some local people to the police station.

"We arrested the driver at 11 am the same day," police said. "At the police station he returned the phones to the two tourists. We are further investigating the case."
The two Russians had only been in Hanoi for two days.
