Foreign Ministry spokesperson Luong Thanh Nghi
Mr Nghi made the statement on September 7 in reply to media questions on Vietnam’s reactions to a number of Taiwanese senior officials’ act of planting its flag and claiming sovereignty over the Ban Than Shoal in the Truong Sa archipelago.
He said this is a serious violation of Vietnam’s territorial sovereignty over the Truong Sa archipelago, causing tensions and complicating the situation in the East Sea.
