The Asia-America Gateway (AAG) submarine cable, which was cut on January 5, will resume normal operation on January 24, according to the cable’s operator.

The first phase of the restoration was completed on January 17.

The breakdown was located in S1H segment, which is a turn from the international line to the southern coastal city Vung Tau (VTU).

Earlier in 2014, the AAG submarine cable was cut in July and September and it took two weeks to resolve the issue.

AAG is one of Vietnam’s four submarine cables and the largest one. There are a number of possibilities for the breakdown such as the travel of ships or the bite of sharks.
