Many tourist sites in Kien Giang such as Phu Quoc, Ha Tien and Rach Gia attracted large numbers of travellers during Tet. Local 3-5 star hotels held many activities on Lunar New Year’s Eve, including traditional art performances.

On February 1-3, Phu Quoc City welcomed 60-62 flights per day.

Visitors in An Giang

Around a total of 98,000 tourists came to Kien Giang for the nine-day Tet holiday, including 5,582 foreigners. The province’s room coverage rate was roughly 56.3 percent.

Phu Quoc City alone lured 79,000 visitors during the time with a room occupancy rate of 71.3 percent.

Nguyen Chi Thanh, deputy director of Kien Giang Province’s Department of Tourism, the Covid-19 pandemic in the locality under control, which is among important factors to attract tourists.

During Tet, An Giang welcomed 316,000 tourists, up 58 percent on-year, bringing the locality a revenue of VND20 billion. Local tourist sites such as Sam Mountain, Cam Mountain, Tuc Dup Hill and Tra Su Mangrove Forest served the most visitors.

Dong Thap attracted 121,965 tourists from January 31 to February 6, up 49.3 percent on-year. Local destinations like Tram Chim National Park and Sa Nhien Flower Village became top choices.

Vo Tien Thanh, director of the provincial Department of Trade and Tourism Promotion Centre, said that the number of travellers to the province during Tet was higher than expected. Dong Thap would co-operate with travel firms in HCM City, Hanoi, Danang and many other localities on tourism promotion.
