The ministry and localities are currently implementing 25 projects or sub-projects with a combined length of 941 kilometres. Of these, the ministry is directly managing 14 projects covering 652 kilometres.
The six expressway sub-projects set to open by August 19 include the Vung Ang-Bung, Van Ninh-Cam Lo, Van Phong-Nha Trang, Quang Nga-Hoai Nhon, Hoai Nhon-Quy Nhon, and Quy Nhon-Chi Thanh sections, along with the Hoa Lien-Tuy Loan expressway. The remaining projects are expected to be completed by the end of the year.
Of the 11 projects managed by localities, totalling 289 kilometres, five are on schedule. However, six projects, spanning 195 kilometres, are behind schedule. These include the HCM City Ring Road 3, Bien Hoa-Vung Tau, Khanh Hoa-Buon Ma Thuot, Tuyen Quang-Ha Giang, and An Huu-Cao Lanh expressways.
Vietnam aims to complete 3,000 kilometres of expressways by the end of this year. In the first half of 2024, the Ministry of Construction launched six projects, inaugurated three, opened three to traffic.
On April 30, the 50th anniversary of national reunification, the ministry inaugurated the Bai Vot-Ham Nghi, Ham Nghi-Vung Ang, and Bung-Van Ninh expressway sections.
According to the Ministry of Construction, Vietnam currently has 2,268 kilometres of expressways.
