The proposed four-lane expressway is designed for speeds of up to 80 kph and would be funded by the central government.
The route would begin in Bac Kan Ward, Thai Nguyen Province, connecting with the Cho Moi-Bac Kan Expressway, and end in Tan Giang Ward, Cao Bang Province. It would include 13.5 kilometres of connecting roads to Cao Bang's city centre.
Cao Bang authorities are seeking feedback from ministries and neighbouring Thai Nguyen Province before finalising the project's feasibility study.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment will review land use and environmental aspects of the project, while the Ministry of Finance will assess its costs, funding and budget feasibility.
