Nguyen Thi Kim Huong receives the donation
She married when she was just 18 years old. After giving birth to her daughter, she was diagnosed with the final stages of kidney failure. That was also when her husband left her.
She kept working for a cashew processing facility for little income. One day, while working, she suddenly fainted because of heart problems.
On June 2, Pham Tam, representative of Dantri in the Southern Region transferred VND87,917,000 to Huong. Huong said readers also called for encouragement and directly gave her money. As of now, she has received over VND210 million (USD9,130).
The local authorities also confirmed that a company had promised to help Huong build a house.
"Thanks to everyone that we are no longer afraid of being hungry or sleeping uneasily on a hammock," Huong said.
Huong said she would deposit the money to treat her illness and raise her daughter.
