A rare accident involving a cargo train occurred this morning, October 13, causing damage to seven kilometres of railroad near a station in the central province of Phu Yen.

A rare accident involving a cargo train occurred this morning, October 13, causing damage to seven kilometres of railroad near a station in the central province of Phu Yen.

The incident occurred at 4am today on a section of railway running through Tan Vinh 1 Hamlet, Xuan Son Nam Commune when the second car's oil tank exploded. This caused an iron bar on the railroad car to fall on the tracks along with a large quantity of oil, damaging nearly seven kilometres of track.

Nguyen Tan Ho, of Tan Vinh 2 Hamlet, said, “I was sleeping when I heard a very loud noise coming from the train. I woke up to that around 4am."

Around four hours after the incident, a rescue train was sent to the scene to pull the train back to the station.
