Central Quang Ngai Province has selected a company to retrieve 500-year-old antiques from a wrecked ship recently found off the coast of Binh Chau Commune.

The vice chairman of Quang Ngai People’s Committee, Le Quang Thich, announced yesterday that Doan Anh Duong Ltd,. Company was officially chosen to carry out the project.
On September 14, the province opened up to bids for the retrieval of the ship's contents and Doan Anh Duong Company, out of HCM City, was one of 14 organizations and four individuals to place bids.

According to the province’s people’s committee, Doan Anh Duong Company will be responsible for all expenses during the process, estimated to be around VND500 million (USD23,958). The company will also be required to provide the proper expertise and equipment to safely carry out the work. The exploitation area extends covers 400 square metres off the shores of Chau Thuan Bien.
On September 24 the province set up a board to direct the work, which included Le Quang Thich as its head and two deputies, Nguyen Dang Vu, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Nguyen Quoc Hung, Deputy Head of the Department of Cultural Heritage.
The deputy directors of other relevant departments including the police, the military and Planning and Investment were also included on the board.

The province’s People’s Committee will soon decide on the date for retrieval operations to begin and complete the contract with Doan Anh Duong Company.
