Since 2021, Kon Plong District, formerly part of Kon Tum Province and now under Quang Ngai, has experienced hundreds of induced earthquakes, with the strongest reaching magnitude 5.0 on July 28, 2024.

Several quakes of magnitude 4.5 and above have caused cracks and subsidence in houses and infrastructure in affected areas, particularly in Mang But and Mang Den.

Local authorities said numerous tremors have been recorded since the start of 2026, though none has caused casualties or significant damage.

Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and not to be complacent in preparedness and response efforts.
