They are among 500 local children aged up to 16 given with free medical check-ups in a charity programme jointly held by the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Dong Hoi Hospital and the Vietnam Relief Association for Handicapped Children.
Most of the children have problems related to eyes, otorhinolaryngology, odonto-stomatology, urinary system and orthopaedics.

Nguyen Thi Thuy from Quang Ninh District said that her daughter’s condition had better recovered after the surgery.
Particularly, the hospital and the Vietnam Relief Association for Handicapped Children gave each child VND50,000 as the transportation fees to the hospital’s medical check-ups. Meanwhile, the assistance is VND300,000 for children who have surgery.
Doctor Trinh Linh Giang, head of the Hospital’s Otorhinolaryngology Ward, said that all medical staff tried their best to support the children. Some surgeons worked from the morning until late afternoon to help as many children as possible.
