Ms. Tran Thi Binh, Deputy General Manager of PVN, reported that the oil factory is currently holding several contracts of which some have been completed on a basic level and run tested, while some others despite some minor technical problems, are still enabling the factory's operation to run smoothly and safely.

Also, according to Ms. Binh, those minor technical problems do not affect the operation of the factory. The Prime Minister allowed PVN to negotiate with the contractor to check and take over two contracts with conditions. "It is likely that Vietnam can officially take over the Dung Quat Oil Refinery Factory this month," Ms. Binh emphasised.

According to PVN reports released on April 5, their total sales in Quarter 1 were VND 94.68 trillion (4.9 billion USD), making up 133% of the quarter's plan and 26% of the GDP for the whole country. They had a total export-turnover of 2.12 billion USD, making up 15.1% of the nation's total export-turnover.

During Quarter 1, PVN was able to utilise 5.92 million tonnes of oil which consists of 2.33 billion cubic metres of gas and 3.59 million tonnes of crude oil. This amount of crude oil were all exported with 1.1 million tonnes went to Dung Quat Oil Refinery Factory.

PVN promised it will be able to supply enough gas for the running of its own and EVN's (Electricity Vietnam) power stations during the peak dry season of 2010.
