Vu Thi Noi, 46, in Nhu Thanh District cried when talking about the accident which struck her son three months ago and his long and challenging treatment ahead. The mother is thinking of selling some of her organs to have money to pay for her son's hospital fees, but she was afraid that her poor health condition would not meet the requirements.
Noi said her son Nguyen Khac Hoang, 27, had a traffic accident while driving a motorbike home during the Lunar New Year Holiday.
"He had undergone a surgery which saved his life," the mother said. "But he is receiving further treatment while waiting for a skull base surgery."
Noi said that she had put the family's house as collateral to borrow money to pay for her son's treatment which has so far reached nearly VND300 million (USD13,043). He is a worker with modest income and has no savings or insurance.
"Our relatives and friends have also tried to help but doctors said he needs hundreds of millions more to cover the skull base surgery," she said. "I don't know where to borrow more money to continue the treatment for him. Now I'm willing to sell some of my organs to have the money."

"He needs a skull base surgery and long and costly treatment to regain these functions," the doctor said. "We hope that he will receive more support from the community to continue the treatment.
