The 34-year-old man touched the thigh of the woman sitting next to him during a flight on August 31. His action was witnessed by a third passenger in the row. The woman quickly reported the incident to the crew. The flight attendant filed a report and transferred the case to the Southern Airports Authority after landing at Tan Son Nhat Airport.
According to the Southern Airport Authority, the male passenger's action was harassment of the female passenger. However, it was not serious enough to be a criminal offence. The male passenger was fined VND8.5m.
In late July, a male passenger named Vu Anh Cuong was also caught sexually harassing a woman and a flight attendant in a Vietnam Airlines flight from Hanoi to HCM City.
The captain then refused to transport Cuong. The crew member and the ground staff filed a report and asked Cuong to leave the plane. He was later fined VND10m.
