Party campaign builds up national strength

The implementation of the campaign of “Studying and following late President Ho Chi Minh’s moral examples” has helped realise Party guidelines and State policies on national development.

The implementation of the campaign of “Studying and following late President Ho Chi Minh’s moral examples” has helped realise Party guidelines and State policies on national development, says Party leader Nong Duc Manh.

The Party General Secretary made this conclusion at a conference in Hanoi on January 25 to review the campaign in 2009 and set tasks for 2010.

He spoke of the major achievements Vietnam made in 2009 in the context of the global economic recession and attributed them to the implementation of the campaign and the late president’s Testament.

Our great efforts helped the country prevent an economic slowdown, maintain the growth at a reasonable rate, rein in high inflation, stabilise the macro economy and ensure social welfare, said Mr Manh.

He pointed out lessons drawn over the past three years after the campaign was launched by the Party’s Political Bureau, saying it is important to create a high consensus in ideology and action within the Party, people and the army concerning the significance and efficiency of the campaign.

He heightened the leadership role and responsibility of Party organisations and especially the heads of agencies in carrying out the campaign, considering this a decisive factor behind its success.

The Party leader said programmes and guidelines on the campaign must be made in a practical manner, close to the tasks set out by the ministries, sectors and localities in various periods and the whole tenure.

He asked grassroots-level boards on the campaign to step up inspection and communications to timely discover and replicate exemplary role models.

Mr Manh proposed that in 2010 the campaign focus on Party building to prepare for local Party congresses in 2010 and the 11th National Party Congress scheduled for early January 2011.

Speakers at the conference shared the view that the campaign has made great influence on society and a practical contribution to implementing national development tasks.

They said Party organisations and administrations are now more aware of their responsibility toward their citizens by improving working styles and public services. The campaign has been closely linked to the on-going task of combating corruption, waste and other negative effects. Many provinces and cities have provided mechanisms for mobilising the people, Party organisations, socio-political organisations and media agencies to bring this task to life.

Thanks to this effort, the number of pure and strong Party organisations has increased significantly while Party members breaking the law have fallen in numbers. Solutions for practising thrift and combating bureaucracy and waste have been paid off.

In 2010, the campaign will be closely linked to organising Party congresses at grassroots level, creating artworks and enhancing communications on late President Ho and the campaign on media agencies, including the Internet.

The Ministry of Education and Training will include the study of the late President’s morals in school curricula, starting from the 2010-2011 academic year.

The central steering board on the campaign will review the implementation of the campaign amongst workers at industrial parks, students at private universities and Vietnamese nationals living abroad.
