Authorities from the Danang Special-Use Forest Management Board confirmed on March 14 that they are treating a golden monkey discovered by visitors on the Son Tra Peninsula.
The animal was found near Ghenh Bang when a group of tourists noticed the young monkey unable to move because its two hind legs were paralysed. They brought the animal to a ranger station to seek help.
Forest authorities then transferred the monkey to a veterinary facility for examination and treatment.

According to Thanh Ngoc Truc, a local resident who regularly monitors monkey troops on Son Tra Peninsula, she had previously seen the same monkey near Mieu Doi Temple.
The monkey’s tail had been cut off and it appeared unable to forage for food. Truc suspects the animal may once have been kept as a pet before being abandoned on Son Tra when its owners could no longer care for it.
Because the monkey cannot move on its own, veterinarians have placed a teddy bear in the enclosure for it to hold. The toy helps prevent the animal from pressing directly against the cage floor, which could worsen its injuries. It also serves as a form of comfort during recovery.
Officials said the monkey is receiving intensive care, but doctors believe the chances of it regaining normal mobility and being released back into the wild remain very low.
Authorities are still investigating how the monkey ended up in the area and what caused its injuries.
