According to the ministry's report, 3,617 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 44 localities including HCM City (1,527), Dong Nai (499), Binh Duong (446), An Giang (142), Dak Lak (119), and Kien Giang (91). There were two imported patients confirmed today.
The new infections showed an increase of 104 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 1,726 infections found in the community.
As of Monday evening, 838,653 infections have been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include HCM City (411,655), Binh Duong (222,528), Dong Nai (55,488), Long An (33,379), and Tien Giang (14,608). The outbreak has so far spread to 62 out of 63 cities and provinces nationwide.
With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 843,281. The country now stands 41st among 222 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.
On October 11, an additional 2,549 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 784,748.
On Monday evening, a further 115 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 20,670 . The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM City (75), Binh Duong (18), Dong Nai (5), An Giang (5), Tien Giang (4), Ninh Thuan (2), Long An (2), Quang Binh (1), Binh Dinh (1), Can Tho (1), and Tay Ninh (1).
The country has so far conducted over 54.27 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 15.58 million people having received two doses.
