Over 22 million needy households and AO victims receive support

The Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRCS) organised a conference in Hanoi on April 27, to summarise the campaign “Tet for the poor and victims of Agent Orange” during the 2009-2018 period.

Six collectives receive Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister 

The conference was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam and the representatives of a number of ministries, agencies and international organisations in Vietnam.

The campaign was officially launched by the Executive Committee of the VRCS in December, 1999. After 20 years of implementation, the VRCS has mobilised more than VND6.6 trillion in order to help over 22 million poor households, AO victims, policy beneficiaries and households affected by disaster.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam spoke highly of the efforts made by the VRCS at all levels in caring for the needy, as well as spreading the message "No one is left behind”.

The Deputy PM suggested that the authorities at all levels pay greater attention to the campaign and call for more support from businesses and donors both at home and abroad for the development of the campaign.

Also at the conference, the VRCS was awarded with the Labour Order, Third Class, whilst six collectives received Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister, and 33 units and 20 individuals receivedcertificates of merit from the VRCS.
