The Northern Power Corporation under EVN reported that Typhoon Bualoi had caused widespread outages in many localities, particularly in the central region.
The storm has disrupted the Northern Power Corporation’s 110kV power grid, forcing 38 transmission lines out of service in Thanh Hoa, Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces, along with 22 substations shut down in Nghe An and Ha Tinh.

On the medium-voltage grid, more than 15,000 transformer stations were disrupted, including nearly 8,000 in Nghe An, over 4,000 in Ha Tinh, about 2,820 in Thanh Hoa, and a smaller number in Ninh Binh.
Typhoon Bualoi have caused around 1.8 million customers to lose electricity, accounting for about 34 per cent of the Northern Power Corporation’s total customers.
Among the three hardest-hit provinces, all customers in Ha Tinh remain cut off, around 88 per cent are without power in Nghe An, and about 28 per cent in Thanh Hoa.
Some areas in Minh Hoa, Tuyen Hoa, Bo Trach and Quang Trach in Quang Tri Province suffered complete blackouts, while other heavily affected areas included Dong Hoi, Quang Ninh, Le Thuy, Vinh Linh and Hai Lang.
The Northern Power Corporation has drawn up a priority restoration plan. For the 110kV grid, work will initially focus on three of the six feeders, particularly the lines from the 220kV Ba Don substation to Van Hoa and Song Gianh, followed by Tuyen Hoa and Hon La.
For the medium-voltage grid, power is being restored first to critical facilities, including Dong Hoi Airport and Dong Hoi Water Plant.
