Deputy general director of the Vietnam Expressway Corporation has been arrested over violations in the management of the Danang - Quang Ngai Expressway project.

Le Quang Hao was arrested on May 11 for violating construction law.
Hao who led the inspection team of the 65-kilometre section of the expressway is accused of failing to follow procedures, standards and design requirements while overseeing the construction work, which resulted in poor quality.
Prior to Hao's arrest, police had also detained 14 others involving in the case including Nguyen Tien Thanh, former director of the project's management board, several employees of the state-owned corporation, members of the project management board and staff of other companies.
Construction of the Danang - Quang Ngai Expressway started in 2013 with a total investment of over VND 34.5 trillion (USD1.4 billion). It was put into operation in September but soon developed large cracks and potholes after heavy rains.
