Up to 97% of people choose to work as nude models in order to earn money, while the rest pose for fun, an experienced model said.
Mr. Tuan, who has worked as a nude model for 10 years, said people acting as a nude model have different backgrounds, but most of them do not have any better work, so continue with the work.
A painter becomes a nude model
After being introduced by a friend, 68 year-old Mr. K, finished as a painter to become a nude model in 1991. Now, he works as a model for students of Hanoi University of Industrial Fine Arts.
"I don’t think that my slim body can be easy for students,” he says.
He also said that modelling pleases him. Initially, he felt time went so slowly, but gradually, he learnt from other models by bringing with him a small radio to cure the boredom.
He said, however, he stopped working as a nude model four years after his son became a student of the university, explaining that he didn’t want to embarrass his son.
The majority of nude works do not reveal their job to their family as they are often afraid that their family will discover the truth.
Mrs. La, a senior nude model, at the Hanoi University of Industrial Fines Art, said her husband suspected her when she said that she worked at the university. He kept a close watch on her and one day caught her as a nude model in front of dozens of students. The university’s management board met him and explained to him about the job, and several months later, he agreed to let her to resume the job.
