The Hanoi People's Procuracy has issued an indictment against Nguyen Dinh Quy, 30, of Tay Phuong Commune, on charges of infringing industrial property rights.
According to the indictment, authorities inspected the Copsneaker store at 161 Chua Lang Street in January 2026 and discovered 458 pairs of shoes bearing the Nike and Adidas trademarks.
The seized products included Air Jordan, Air Force 1 and Samba models, with a total estimated value of more than VND 340 million (USD 13,000).
Investigators said none of the products was accompanied by invoices or documents proving their origin. The shoes were later identified as counterfeit goods bearing Nike and Adidas trademarks protected under Vietnamese law.
Quy told investigators he began selling footwear in July 2024. He allegedly sourced products through Facebook groups and arranged for suppliers to ship them directly to his shop.
Because transactions were conducted through social media, he claimed not to know the identities or detailed information of the suppliers.
To support the business, Quy employed three part-time workers and promoted products through social media platforms, TikTok and the website Copsneaker.vn. Staff members were responsible for packing and dispatching orders to customers.
According to the indictment, Quy admitted that the Nike and Adidas shoes sold at the shop were not genuine products. When advising customers, he allegedly described them as "1:1 copies" or "high-quality fakes" and sold them at prices two to three times lower than authentic versions.
Prosecutors said Quy also displayed higher prices on the website before offering discounts designed to attract buyers.
After deducting expenses including advertising, rent, staff wages and shipping costs, authorities estimate that Quy earned profits of around VND 100 million (USD 3,800) from the business.
During the investigation, the defendant voluntarily surrendered VND 20 million (USD 770) to authorities.
The indictment noted that Quy had previously been fined by market surveillance officials for trading goods bearing counterfeit trademarks.
