Lien Khuong airport to end passenger announcements from November

Lien Khuong International Airport will stop routine passenger announcements from November in an effort to reduce noise and improve service quality.

From October 1, the airport will suspend announcements calling passengers to check in or board, as well as routine calls for individual passengers. All regular passenger announcements at the terminal will cease from 5 am on November 1.

The public address system will remain in use for emergencies, fire prevention and firefighting, security and aviation safety.

The airport has asked airlines to inform passengers of the change and encourage them to monitor flight information display screens and arrive at boarding gates on time.

Airlines have also been asked to coordinate with ground staff to assist and remind passengers at check-in areas and departure lounges.

Located in Duc Trong Commune, Lien Khuong International Airport reopened on Aug. 19 after a five-month closure for runway repairs.

From August 19 to 26, the airport handled hundreds of take-offs and landings, nearly 39,000 passengers and 76 tonnes of cargo.

During the National Day holiday period, it handled around 36-40 flights a day, with passenger numbers up 20-30 per cent from the first week after reopening.
