In contrast, hot conditions are set to persist in the north-central region, while much of the rest of the country will also experience high temperatures, with severe heat expected from Thanh Hoa to Hue.

Ahead of the storms, the northeast recorded cloudy skies with light rain and early morning mist, clearing to sunshine by midday. From late afternoon, scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected, with temperatures ranging from 22-25 degree Celsius to 30-33 degree Celsius.

The northwest will remain largely sunny, with some areas experiencing heat before evening storms develop. Temperatures are forecast at 21-24 degree Celsius, dropping below 21 degree Celsius in some places, and rising to 31-34 degree Celsius, exceeding 35 degree Celsius locally.

Hanoi is expected to follow a similar pattern, with light rain and mist in the morning, sunny intervals during the day, and scattered storms later. Temperatures will range between 22-25 degree Celsius and 30-33 degree Celsius.

From April 4, rainfall in the north is expected to ease, with sunshine returning before a broader heatwave sets in around April 6.

Central provinces from Thanh Hoa to Hue will face widespread heat, locally severe, alongside isolated evening showers. Temperatures will range from 23-26 degree Celsius to 34-37 degree Celsius, exceeding 37 degree Celsius in some areas.

The south-central coast will be mostly sunny, with Danang and Quang Ngai experiencing locally severe heat. Temperatures are expected to reach 33-36 degree Celsius, surpassing 37 degree Celsius in some locations, while other provinces see 31-34 degree Celsius.

The Central Highlands will remain largely dry and sunny, with temperatures from 19-22 degree Celsius rising to 31-34 degree Celsius, exceeding 35 degree Celsius in some places.

Southern Vietnam will stay hot and dry, particularly in the southeast, where temperatures are forecast at 35-36 degree Celsius. HCM City is expected to record highs of 34-36 degree Celsius.

Heat is forecast to persist in the southeast in the coming days and expand across the south from April 6.
