According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, northern provinces and Thanh Hoa are forecast to see scattered showers and early-morning fog from March 7-8, with chilly conditions persisting in many places before sunshine returns later in the day.
Central regions from Nghe An to eastern Dak Lak and northern Khanh Hoa may also experience scattered showers and thunderstorms over the next two days, while other areas are expected to have isolated night-time showers followed by sunny daytime conditions.
Forecasters said the incoming cold air mass could trigger intermittent rain across the north from March 9-10, with localised heavy downpours possible.
Meanwhile, the cold surge combined with windward effects along the Truong Son Mountain Range is likely to bring rain and thunderstorms to provinces from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai between March 9 and 11, with locally heavy rainfall.
