According to the National Centre for Hydro-meteorology Forecasting, the hot spell has hit the north over the past week. Some localities in Son La, Hoa Binh and Nghe An provinces saw temperatures of 34-36 degrees centigrade.

Hot weather has unexpectedly affected the northern region of Vietnam during the Tet Holiday

Hanoi’s temperature has been at 28-30 degrees centigrade over the past week.

The centre forecasted that a cold spell has been moving to the north, so the region is expected to see temperatures fall by 1-2 degrees centigrade tomorrow, February 9.

From Sunday, the region’s temperature would further drop, and the hot snap would end on November 11 with temperatures from 12 to 24 degrees centigrade.

The centre also said that the average temperature of February would be higher than previous years. Some cold spells have been forecasted to occur in the northern region this month.
