Among the batches, two have an expiry date of November 30 and five others have an expiry date of December 31. These will be extended to February 28 and March 31 next year.

According to the Ministry of Health, Vietnam’s decision to use the two vaccine batches followed the permission of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Medicines Agency on the three-month extension of the Pfizer vaccine.

Since October 22, Vietnam has applied the extension for imported Pfizer vaccines.

The National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology is responsible to inform the vaccine extension to localities’ Centres for Disease Control. Localities are asked to use the vaccines effectively and speed up the vaccination.

Earlier, the Ministry of Health approved the extension of two imported Pfizer vaccine batches.
