Nine children from Ha Giang Province successfully escaped after being tricked into forced labour in China.
The children found their way back home
The border guards at Mong Cai Border Gate in Quang Ninh Province sent the children, seven boys and two girls, back to their families on March 16. The guards found them crossing the border during the patrol three days ago. The children did not have any papers and looked like illegal immigrants.
Initial investigation showed that the children are from the H'Mong ethnic group in Minh Son Commune, Ha Giang Province and aged from 13 to 15 years old.
According to the children, a man visited their homes on March 2 and promised to find them jobs in China that paid CNY100 a day. The children realised that they were tricked upon arriving in China so they tried to escape to Vietnam.
Mong Cai border guards trasferred the case to Ha Giang Province authorities for further investigation.
