The first trains on the seven-kilometre route ran on Sunday evening.

The night trains are scheduled to depart from 6.15 pm to 9.20 pm. Regular ticket prices will range from VND72,000-100,000 (USD2.90-4) for one-way or round-trip journeys.

The trains run at just 15 kilometres per hour for passengers to admire the beautiful scenery.

Passengers can also enjoy dinner and music while travelling on the train.

The Dalat-Trai Mat section is part of the 84-kilometre Dalat-Thap Cham train route which is being restored and is scheduled to be put into operation by 2030.

This is one of the rare serrated railways in the world. Built between 1908 to 1932, the railway once played an important part in the economic development of Da Lat. The route was damaged due to the war in Vietnam, and most of the rails, locomotives and train carriages were dismantled and used for other purposes.

Dalat Train Station is considered the most beautiful station in Vietnam and has been recognised as a national cultural and historical heritage site since 2001.
