The move came after the tragic fire that left 56 dead and 37 injured at an apartment building in Hanoi on September 12.
Nghe An Police on Friday issued urgent documents to all districts asking local authorities to inspect fire prevention systems at all apartment buildings and rented houses in the province and deal with any violations.
According to the Nghe An Construction Department, there are nearly 90 apartment buildings with about 1,800 apartments in the province, which are mainly in Vinh City.
“All these buildings have been checked for fire safety after being put into operation," the department said. "But we need to recheck with tightened regulations."
Although the cause of the Hanoi building fire has not been announced, there have been rumors that it was caused by a motorbike battery explosion.
Many apartment blocks in Hanoi have also issued the same ban on electric vehicle charging. Some even refused renters or buyers who have electric vehicles.
Vice chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, Le Hong Son, issued a plan today to inspect all mini apartment buildings, including fire prevention regulations. The inspections will be carried out from September 15 to October 30.
In HCM City, Colonel Le Manh Ha from HCM City Police also told a Thursday meeting that they are carrying out checks at 42,000 apartments at mini apartment blocks for fire safety.
