Vietnam has continued to record rising number of new Covid-19 infections with 7,988 more cases confirmed in 55 localities nationwide on Monday, according to the Ministry of Health.
According to the ministry's report, 7,954 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 55 out of 63 localities in the country including HCM City (1,316), Dong Nai (969), Binh Duong (823), An Giang (531), Tien Giang (392), Kien Giang (363), Tay Ninh (354), Dong Thap (351), Binh Thuan (267), Bac Lieu (229), Ca Mau (222), Can Tho (178), Ba Ria - Vung Tau (149), Vinh Long (149), Long An (136), Ha Giang (133), Dak Lak (133), and Hanoi (111). There were 34 imported patients confirmed today.
The new infections showed an increase of 323 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 2,237 infections found in the community.
As of Monday evening, 971,711 infections had been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include HCM City (439,940), Binh Duong (239,728), Dong Nai (73,142), Long An (35,897), and Tien Giang (18,496).
With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 976,672. The country now stands 38th among 223 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.
On November 8, an additional 1,073 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 841,475.
On Monday evening, a further 67 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 22,598. The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM City (35), Dong Nai (11), Binh Duong (8), Tay Ninh (2), Kien Giang (2), An Giang (2), Khanh Hoa (1), Binh Phuoc (1), Can Tho (1), Hau Giang (1), Dak Lak (1), Soc Trang (1), and Bac Lieu (1).
Vietnam on November 7 administered more than 987,621 doses of Covid-19 vaccines. The country has so far conducted over 90.68 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 29.33 million people having received two doses.
