As many as 51,400 Vietnamese enterprises closed their doors in the first two months of this year, up 14.5 percent on-year.

According to the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the figure was also 2.5 fold higher than the peak of 2021.
The ministry said that between January and February this year, the number of newly-established enterprises totalled 19,700 with an average registered capital of VND8.4 billion (USD357,446), down 38.9 percent on-year.
During this period, the country saw 37,900 companies resume operations, down 11.2 percent on-year.
Businesses in Vietnam, particularly the private sector, have continued struggling with difficulties, including higher interest rates and a sharp fall in orders.
In 2021, around 10,000 businesses in Vietnam ceased trading each month. The figure was 11,900 per month in 2022.
