According to the ministry's report, 5,382 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 37 localities including HCM City (2,490), Binh Duong (1,210), Dong Nai (701), An Giang (222), Soc Trang (118), and Long An (90). There was one imported patient confirmed today.
The new infection number showed an increase of 15 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 2,690 infections found in the community.
As of Monday evening, 809,375 infections have been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April. Some localities recorded the highest number of patients include HCM City (400,003), Binh Duong (216,853), Dong Nai (51,364), Long An (32,857), and Tien Giang (14,172). The outbreak has so far spread to 62 out of 63 cities and provinces nationwide.
With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 813,961. The country now stands 43rd among 222 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.
On October 4, an additional 27,683 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 721,480.
On Monday evening, a further 130 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 19,845. The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM (93), Binh Duong (20), Long An (5), Dong Nai (5), An Giang (3), Ca Mau (1), Vinh Long (1), Danang (1), and Tien Giang (1).
The country has so far conducted over 45.49 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 10.87 million people having received two doses.
