Around 15,000 students in the northern central province of Thanh Hoa have had to stay at home due to a Covid-19 outbreak in the locality.

Over the recent days, Bim Son Town has detected up to 86 Covid-19 cases, including 37 students and teachers.

By October 18, 2,455 local students and 301 teachers were defined as having had close contact with Covid-19 patients.

Since October 15, 15,000 students from Bim Son have temporarily stopped going to school to curb Covid-19. They are all in Quang Trung Commune.

Quang Trung Primary and Secondary School is being closed for Covid-19 prevention


The two first Covid-19 cases were recorded in Quang Trung Commune. To date, the figure has grown to 33 in the locality.

The students who came into close contact with Covid-19 patients are being quarantined at their homes.

The district Board of Education and Training has prepared an online study plan for schools. Students who are in grade 1 and 2 will learn through television, while those from grade 3 to 9 will mainly study online.
