The first home - a distant dream for many
For many city dwellers, particularly young professionals and public sector workers, owning a first home remains a cherished but increasingly elusive goal. “Everyone deserves a place to live, a shelter they can confidently call their own,” said Steven Chu in a recent podcast. “Only with that foundation can people focus on their careers and personal growth.”

But the rapid pace of urbanisation has pushed housing prices far beyond the reach of most. In the second quarter of 2025, the average primary apartment price in Hanoi reached VND 80 million per square metre (approximately USD 3,140), up 6 per cent quarter-on-quarter and 24 per cent year-on-year.
In contrast, Vietnam’s average monthly per capita income stood at just VND 8.2 million (approximately USD 322) during the same period, highlighting a widening affordability gap. For many young families, home ownership demands years of savings, frugality, and financial sacrifice.
A mission made possible
Challenging the perception that affordable housing means compromised quality, Steven Chu explained how Nam Long ADC has pursued practical solutions through technology, design, and customer-focused development.

The affordable housing line EHome has made its way to the North with An Zen Residences project.
“We begin by understanding the real financial capacity of our target customers, then optimise design to reduce waste while ensuring comfort and functionality,” he said. “We adapt our projects to local cultures and lifestyles, and apply strict quality control standards at every step.”
At the heart of this approach is the company’s EHome product line, built on the 3E philosophy:
Economy: Delivering homes at a cost that aligns with the income of most workers.
Efficiency: Designing compact but highly functional spaces that maximise livability.
Ecology: Incorporating green spaces and sustainable features to support a healthy living environment.

An Zen Residences project continues to reaffirm Nam Long ADC’s commitment to affordable housing.
According to Steven Chu, EHome is not a temporary initiative but a core business segment developed over 18 years. Nearly 8,500 EHome apartments have been delivered across five projects in southern Vietnam, demonstrating that affordable housing can be both socially impactful and commercially viable.
Nam Long ADC is now expanding to the north with the An Zen Residences project in Hai Phong, which will provide 887 EHome units in its first phase, marking a key milestone in the company’s national rollout.
“We believe that the dream of owning a home should not be reserved for the privileged few,” Steven Chu said. “It’s a basic human need, and we’re committed to making it achievable for as many people as possible.”
