National Assembly (NA) Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung met with Saint Petersburg’s Acting Legislative Assembly Chairman Sergey Andenko on March 10 as part of his ongoing visit to Russia.
Vietnam’s top legislator noted the city’s impressively comprehensive development, adding his visit aims to deepen the time-honoured friendship and strategic partnership between Vietnam and Russia.
NA Chairman Hung briefed his Russian host on Vietnam’s socio-economic status and the Vietnamese NA’s current priorities, including the 1992 Constitution revisions that aim to create the legal foundation for the country’s renovation and international integration.
The NA leader asked Saint Petersburg’s Legislative Assembly to lend its support to cooperative initiatives with Vietnamese localities like Hanoi, HCM City, and Nghe An province. Sharing experiences in respective strengths such as culture and tourism can benefit all parties, he said.
He wished his best to Saint Petersburg’s construction and development efforts towards greater prosperity.
Both sides also compared notes on legislative experiences and cooperation between Vietnamese cities and Saint Petersburg.
Hung and his delegation left Saint Petersburg for Moscow later on the same day to continue their Russian visit through to the end of March 11.
Chairman Andenco recalled 2012 saw six Vietnamese working delegation visits— mostly from Hanoi, HCM City, and Hai Phong—to discuss ways of expanding cooperation and deepening the two nations’ traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership.
