According to the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on June 7 and 8, Vietnamese authorities and representative agencies in the US, Vietnam Airlines and relevant US agencies worked together to bring back home the citizens from San Francisco Airport.
The passengers included children under 18 years old, the elderly, students who don’t have accommodation due to dormitory closures, and those living in difficult circumstances.Upon arriving at Noi Bai International Airport, the passengers and cabin crew members received health checkups and were sent to quarantine in line with the country's regulations.
This was the third flight repatriating Vietnamese citizens from the US during the virus outbreak. In the first two flights which were conducted on May 8 and May 16, over 680 Vietnamese citizens were brought home safely from the country.
According to the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam, 21 flights will help in repatriation efforts between May 18 and June 15.
As of early June 9, Vietnam confirmed 332 Covid-19 infection cases, including 192 imported cases, said the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control.
Of the patient tally, 316 patients have recovered, accounting for 95.2%.
