To date, local authorities have relocated 138 sets of remains for burial at Yen Ky Cemetery in the outlying Ba Vi District of Hanoi. The remaining remains are scheduled to be brought for burial on December 1-3.
Residents believe the remains belong to ordinary people, dating back roughly 50 to 70 years.
The drainage system upgrade at Alley 167 aims to address the severe flooding issues in the area.
This is not the first time remains have been discovered in the area. Numerous sets of unmarked remains were found at Alley 167 during infrastructure projects or when house foundations were being excavated.
