In December 2019, 27 cases of pneumonia were reported in Wuhan, in central Hubei Province. Seven cases were in critical condition. The Chinese authorities have launched an investigation and various measures to control the outbreak. There is no clear evidence that the disease is infected from person to person and no medical staff have yet been infected.
Initial tests show that this is a viral pneumonia outbreak. There are rumours that the outbreak is linked to SARS.
The Ministry of Health of Vietnam has directed related agencies to tighten control and monitoring at the border gates and communities in order to react in time. The ministry will work with the World Health Organisation to publicise more information about the outbreak in China.
