The HCM City police have fined a Chinese man for riding a motorised suitcase on a local street.

On March 20, the 75-year-old tourist was seen riding the suitcase along Le Thanh Ton Street in Ben Nghe Ward, District 1. The incident was recorded by locals and shared on social media, showing that he was wearing a white hat and sitting on a small orange suitcase equipped with wheels.

The Ben Nghe Ward police later identified and fined him VND225,000 (USD8.87) for using a skateboard or similar device on a motor vehicle-only road.

Earlier, the police in District 1 also fined a local woman for committing a similar violation. She was found riding a motorised suitcase on Le Duan street.

Authorities have warned people not to use motorised suitcases on public roads, as this violates traffic laws and poses serious risks to both the rider and other road users.
